Join us on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, as Backpack Buddies of Metro Atlanta partners with Ravinia to host a community service project during Hunger Awareness Month. Help us raise funds and awareness as we pack nutritious meals kits for food-insecure children in the Metro Atlanta Area. Each bag will consist of six meals to help fill the tummies of hungry children over the weekend. Your donation will help expand the organization's reach, enabling thousands more children to receive nutritious weekend meals throughout Metro Atlanta.

About Backpack Buddies of Metro Atlanta

In 2017, a group of volunteers gathered each week at an Atlanta Synagogue to pack food for the hungry. They partnered with a local elementary school that identified 10 students dependent on the school's free breakfast and lunch program. Each Friday, the group delivered backpacks filled with non-perishable food to the school counselor, who discreetly sent those children home with enough food to last them through the weekend. Word spread, and more volunteers got involved. Backpack Buddies of Metro Atlanta is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization fighting weekend childhood hunger by providing nutritious food bags to approximately 3,000 children every week in 53 Metro Atlanta Title I schools. Through partnerships with schools, volunteers, businesses, faith communities, and civic organizations, Backpack Buddies is working toward a future where no child goes hungry over the weekend. To date, BPBMA has served 279,957 children and delivered 1,679,742 meals!
