Dear PLACE Builders supporters -
I'm writing this update from Durham, North Carolina where we're currently hosting our close-out celebration for this inaugural cohort. Over the past week, I’ve found myself grappling with a semi-rhetorical question: How did we get here already?
In partnership with Forward Cities, we have planned, fundraised, recruited, and run a full fellowship program cycle in Pava’s honor within nine months of losing her. That’s just the pace of action that Pava inspired.
I'm also deeply grateful that we have been able to raise nearly $93,000 through individual + foundation donations to launch this program and make it sustainable for future cohorts to come. Due to the level of interest, donations, and support we have received since launch, I'm proud to announce that we will be running a second cohort next year.
But ... $93K isn't $100K, and if you knew Pava, you knew she wasn't satisfied with almost hitting a goal. We are making one final campaign push to hit $100K by June 30 to set us up for success when we run v2 of PLACE Builders next year.
If you have already donated, sincerely, thank you so much and I am not asking for additional donations. Instead, I ask your support in sharing this campaign with any family/friends that might also have the means to donate.

Dear PLACE Builder supporters - we are incredibly proud to announce that the applications for the inaugural PLACE Builder cohort have officially launched!

Thanks to your generous support of this campaign so far, we have secured enough funding to proceed with our first cohort this Spring.
However, we're still marching towards our $100K goal by April 6th in order to amplify the grant support we can provide to our fellows as well as make this fellowship more sustainable for the years to come.
With this announcement, I have two more asks of our supporters:

1. Please share the PLACE Builders application with anyone who you believe would be a great fit for this program! The ideal fellow embodies Pava's spirit of striving to make a positive difference in the place they call home and doing so through taking concrete action. Fellows can and will come from all walks of life all across the country.

2. Please also spread the word that this fundraising campaign is not over yet. We are working hard to secure some bigger contributions from foundations/grant sources, but every bit helps us towards our goal. Pava wouldn't want us to stop until we hit our goal, so we simply won't. If you have any additional idea of people/foundations that would be willing to step up and support PLACE Builders, please email me directly at kevin@ecomap.tech and I would be happy to chat further.
While it's hard to believe we're almost at the 5 month mark without Pava, days like today instill a feeling that she is still here.
