Join Diverse-OT National’s book club “Reading for the Revolution.” This book club is dedicated to exploring topics of disability justice, social & occupational justice, medical industrial complex, freedom movements of the past, politics, history, and more! 📚 The first book of the book club will be “The Viral Underclass” by Steven W. Thrasher. If we want to be revolutionaries then we must first start by acknowledging the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, understanding it’s impacts on oppressed populations, and re-think our commitments to wearing masks and understanding the ethics behind it (especially as evidence-based and science-driven healthcare practitioners and educators). There’s no possible way we can have a revolution if we leave our disabled comrades behind, there’s no revolution without masking. 😷 At Diverse-OT National, we strongly believe that education is the practice of freedom and that knowledge is power. We believe that coming together to have critical conversations as a community is one way we can take action against systems of oppression. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻 . Where to find the book *Your local library!
