Dory, a small Welsh cross pony, faced a challenging journey before finding sanctuary at Unity Farm Sanctuary. Purchased at a livestock auction while pregnant with Squirt Pony, her previous owner did not want her due to locking stifles and partial blindness. Rescued by our farm manager, Tyla Doolin, Dory and Squirt found safety and love here.
Despite her challenges, Dory is adored for her furry winter coat and enjoys dedicated grooming sessions with volunteers. Partially blind with no left eye and limited vision in her right, she finds comfort in Squirt's presence and their stable paddock. Dory underwent successful knee replacement surgery at the sanctuary, though she has an allergy to NSAID painkillers, limiting her pain management options to Tylenol. At some point, we will be addressing her locking stifles, but we are taking it slow so that we can limit any pain meds.
