Star Donkey
Star's Story
Star lived not far away from the Sanctuary. She was a guardian of sheep on lots of grass so she ate plenty of that (and in winter did love plnety of hay).
Unfortunately, donkeys don't need much of the sugar in grass, so she developed white line diseas in her hooves along with laminitis, fat pads and metabolic issues similar to diabetes.
She came to us when her family moved to a smaller proprty and independent living. Star is beloved here! Now a true senior, she had a major health incident in 2023 from arthritic hyoid bones, compressing facial nerves. Good timing and a intensive health car has her have to her vibrant self, but she will never fully contol all the muscles in the left side of her face, and she will need mashes and chopped hay for the rest of her life.
Star Donkey would be so happy if you supported Team Star!
