About the Workshop

It is recommended, but not required to attend all three sessions held, October 27, November 3 and November 10, 2025, from from 4:00-5:00 pm.

OCT 27 – Session 1: Read Preface and Intro

NOV 3 – Session 2: Read Part One (“Rest”) and Part Two (“Dream”)

NOV 10 – Session 3: Read Part Three (“Resist) and Part Four (“Imagine”)

Join professors Rev. Amina S. McIntyre and Dr. Marcus A. Hong as we read together through Rev. Tricia Hersey's REST IS RESISTANCE. This timely book draws upon Rev. Hersey's ministry curating communal napping experiences as the Nap Bishop to articulate the power of rest, naps and daydreaming in embodying resistance to capitalism and white supremacy. Rev. Hersey will be on the Louisville Seminary campus on November 12 for a Nap Installation, and this book study allows both those at a distance and those close by to engage with her work.

About the Facilitators:

Marcus A. Hong is a cultivator of worship who has served in congregations, chapels, and youth groups for twenty years. He's also the Associate Professor of Practical Theology, Director of Lifelong Learning, and Project Director for the Sun-Walking Fellowship at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. His research explores art and human dignity in ministry, the Psalms in worship and education, and intergenerational and intercultural worship.

Rev. Amina S. McIntyre, MFA is an award-winning artist, scholar, and minister serving as Assistant Director of the Sun-Walking Fellowship Grant and Visiting Assistant Professor of Practical Theology at Louisville Seminary.
