The word "cancer" brings a flood of emotions and countless questions: Why? It’s overwhelming to face the uncertainties and seek ways to help. My dear mother, Olive, was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer in a heartbreaking manner. Prior to her emergency hospital visit, we had no idea she had cancer. Despite her regular doctor visits, routine check-ups, and lab work, there had never been any indication of cancer. What we initially thought was a simple stomach bug turned out to be devastating news. On top of the cancer diagnosis, my mother also suffered from severe dementia. The doctors eventually took me and my sisters into a private room to deliver the crushing news: there was nothing more they could do, and my mother was given less than a week to live. Hearing this, we were devastated and broke down in tears. The doctor, deeply moved by our situation, tried to offer comfort and support, but our world was turned upside down. My mother passed away just three days later, on November 5, 2019.
