At Science Central, some experiences become part of the memories families carry with them for years. For generations of visitors, the suspended bike high above the exhibit floor has been one of those unforgettable moments. It represents curiosity, excitement, challenge, and discovery. It is one of the experiences that people remember long after they leave our building.

Through the Ride the Wire Campaign, we are bringing the bike back.

This campaign is part of our Catalyst Year of Change, a transformational moment for Science Central focused on growth, accessibility, sustainability, and the future of science education in our community. Our goal is to raise $150,000 to restore this beloved exhibit while also strengthening the long-term future of our programs and operations.

The first $75,000 raised will directly support the return of the suspended bike exhibit. These funds will help cover engineering, fabrication, installation, safety systems, exhibit redevelopment, and the infrastructure needed to safely reintroduce this iconic experience to our exhibit floor.

As part of this project, we are also developing an accessible companion experience so that all members of our community can meaningfully engage with the exhibit regardless of physical ability. We believe every visitor deserves the opportunity to experience wonder, exploration, and hands-on discovery at Science Central.

Everything raised beyond the initial $75,000 goal will support the broader sustainability of Science Central through annual programming, exhibit improvements, educational experiences, outreach initiatives, and operational growth.

Most importantly, this campaign belongs to the community.

Ride the Wire is built on the idea that lasting impact happens when people come together around a shared vision. This campaign is not dependent on one donor, one business, or one major contribution. It will succeed because families, community members, local businesses, educators, and supporters across our region believe in the importance of accessible science education and community-centered learning.

To celebrate community support at every level, special campaign incentives and recognition opportunities will be available for gifts of $100, $500, $1,000, and $5,000.
