Founded in 1965, the Imperial Council of San Francisco has spent over 60 years uplifting marginalized communities through advocacy, fundraising, and service. As we step into 2026, our Board of Directors asked a simple but powerful question: How can we create space for community, wellness, and giving back—all at once?

Our answer is the first annual Imperial Council 5K Run. This event is about movement, not speed. Whether you run, walk, roll, or skate, we invite everyone to join us in celebrating health, inclusion, and community. If your New Year’s resolution is to take better care of yourself—or to reconnect with a cause that matters—this 5K is for you.

Funds raised will support the ongoing operations of the Imperial Council, helping us continue our decades-long work. Like any organization, it takes resources to keep our mission moving forward—especially as we plan ahead in an increasingly challenging economic climate. But giving back has always been at the heart of who we are.

That’s why 26% of all proceeds, in honor of the year 2026, will be donated to Mission Action SF, a local organization building community power at the intersection of housing rights, immigrant rights, and worker rights. Through grassroots organizing, advocacy, and community engagement, Mission Action SF addresses the root causes of injustice to create lasting social change.

Mission Action SF also recently launched Jazzie’s Place, a groundbreaking shelter dedicated to serving the LGBTQ community. This affirming space recognizes the disproportionate barriers LGBTQ people face in securing housing and is committed to providing safety, dignity, and celebration of all sexual orientations and gender identities.

Registration is $26, with your participation directly supporting both the Imperial Council’s mission and the transformative work of Mission Action SF.
