There always seems to be money for wars, grand projects, and monuments. Yet programs that help people stay healthy, keep food on the table, and provide essential services are continually being asked to do more with less.

At Spokane AIDS Network, we see the consequences of those priorities every day.

Since 1985, SAN has been providing compassion, support, and meals to our community. More than forty years later, our mission remains the same: ensuring that no one has to face illness, hardship, or hunger alone.

Today, more households each week depend on the SAN Pantry Program. Many of our neighbors are seniors, people living with HIV, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, individuals with disabilities, and families struggling to make impossible choices between rent, medication, and groceries.

As funding for healthcare, essential services, and food assistance becomes increasingly uncertain, community support matters more than ever.

We may not be able to control the priorities set in Washington, D.C., but we can decide what kind of community we want to be.

We can choose compassion over indifference.

We can choose neighbors over politics.

And we can choose to make sure no one goes hungry.
