SBEF Runs the Falmouth Road Race 2024 to Support Education!!
Fri, May 24 12:00 AM – Sun, Aug 18 12:00 AM EDT
MEET OUR RUNNERS: Mike Vincent As a parent to two children in the Somerset Berkley schools, our family benefits from the amazing education experience created by faculty and staff alike. My wife Jen has been involved in school board and we've attended Somerset Berkley Education Foundation fundraisers for some years now. Running has been a big part of my life for over two decades, so I'm happy to use it in taking a more active role in contributing to the Somerset Berkley Education Foundation. Michelle Graca I am a teacher at Berkley Middle School and the cross country coach. My students have benefited greatly from the Somerset-Berkley Education Foundation several times. Over the years, my grant applications were accepted for field trips such as the New Bedford Whaling Museum (history/marine biology) and Camp Bournedale (biology/physics/team building). These hands-on experiences are a great way to inspire students to apply their knowledge and solidify learning. As for running, I have enjoyed competing in distance running all of my life including the marathon and a 50K. I am inspired to run the Falmouth Road Race for the foundation because I know funds go directly to students and their classroom teachers. The grants support all learners and expand opportunities beyond district funding. Looking forward to making a difference while doing something I love! Jen Gaw I am super excited to participate in the 2024 Falmouth Road Race in support of the Somerset Berkley Education Foundation because it involves two things that are very important to me. I absolutely adore running and over the past year it has become both a therapeutic and health benefit in my life. I tell everyone that I don’t get my runner’s high until I reach at least 3 miles so the greater the distance, the better. Another passion of mine is community service and volunteer work. My husband Bob, school committee official, and I have two children within the Somerset schools and as a member of the Somerset Berkley Education board I see the direct impact that the foundation has on them and their classmates. It is an honor to be able to combine these two joys to make a big difference for the youth of our community. Katelyn Champine Hello! I am the Special Education Coordinator at SBRHS and this is my 19th year in education. I started running in 2019, and have since run 2 marathons and countless half marathons. I was in my final weeks of training for Boston when I broke my foot. In the last 5 years, I have run for Team in Training and the MA General Emergency Response Team, raising over $15,000. I am so excited to be a part of this team and raise money for my own community. Keegan LaRue My name is Keegan, and I have taught math at SBRHS for 6 years. I have also coached both Cross Country and Track & Field for the past 6 years, but have been running casually since high school. Outside of running, my hobbies include cooking, music, and trivia! I've never run the Falmouth Road Race before, but I'm looking forward to experiencing it!
