Spring is one of the most crucial fundraising times of the year for the San Francisco Historical Society. This spring also happens to be an exciting moment for our institution and growing Museum of San Francisco.

Thanks to the generous support of donors like you, this year we’ve been able to open new exhibitions like Small World, Big City: Scaled Stories of San Francisco’s Neighborhoods. And we’re now welcoming school groups to our new history learning center, City Lab for Kids.

Every dollar that you donate today allows us to bring the city’s history, arts, and culture alive through elementary school tours, summer camps for middle schoolers, and our annual Fracchia Prize essay competition.

For this year’s Fracchia Prize alone, a record-breaking 110 essays were submitted by students at 15 local high schools. After rigorous research and writing, three of our emerging historians will be recognized with cash prizes and the publication of their work in Panorama or The Argonaut.”

Save the date for Saturday, July 18th, 2026. As our way to say thanks, we invite you to join us for an Open House at the Museum of San Francisco. This will be your chance to preview City Lab for Kids and try out some tabling activities that are fun for all ages. Thanks to a partnership with the Pacific Pinball Museum, we’ll also have a brand new “playable” exhibition on display, The Silver Ball and the Golden Gate: Pinball Celebrates San Francisco. Stay tuned for even more surprises!
