Serving Up Support is a high school volleyball event that benefits the SL24: UnLocke the Light Foundation. The mission of this organization is to educate, assist, and support young people as they navigate mental health challenges.

Educate - SL24 equips youth with the knowledge to recognize mental health challenges, find support, and take steps toward wellness.

Assist - SL24 removes barriers to mental health care by connecting youth to specialized resources and offering scholarships to ensure financial access to therapy.

Support - SL24 created Sean’s House and Sean’s Room to provide safe and brave spaces, empowering youth to seek and offer guidance from their peers.

A message from SMHS senior and event founder Maddi Way: At last year’s event, I spoke honestly and candidly about my mental health struggles to approximately 1,000 people - sharing openly about the ways it has impacted me, both good and bad. My struggles challenged my performance in school and volleyball, but they also showed me just how strong and courageous I am. At the end of the tournament, I realized that sharing my experience not only raised money, but it allowed people to reach out to me about their own mental health struggles. I referred many of these people to Sean’s House, and Sean’s Rooms - two free mental health resources in Delaware that are directly funded and supported by events like this one.

This event continues to grow its size and reach, but my mission remains the same: to encourage others to speak openly about their challenges and seek assistance. We have set a fundraising goal of $75,000 for this event. To reach this goal, I invite you to join me in making a difference. Every donation, no matter the size, helps SL24 continue to educate, assist, and support young people struggling with their mental health. Together, we can reach this year’s goal and ensure that more youth have access to the safe spaces and resources they deserve.
