Buddy System has been supporting our Miami-Dade community since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, providing free, healthy food to the most vulnerable members of our community who have been left behind by traditional programs. But now, five years into this work, we’re facing one of our toughest moments yet as an organization.

Our largest grant, which has kept our programs running for the past three years, was cut. That leaves us with a $160,000 funding gap -- and only two months of funds left. We urgently need your help to keep our vital programs alive.

This isn’t just a crisis for our organization -- it’s a crisis for the 5,000+ people we serve whose lives depend on this support. Families across Miami are already struggling with rising costs, and programs like ours are being defunded across the country. At a time when groceries, rent, and daily living expenses are at an all-time high – when more people than ever are in need of food access support – public investment in social services is being slashed.

But here’s what we know: when institutions fall short, community steps up. That’s how Buddy System began — neighbors supporting neighbors — and that’s how we’ll get through this, together.
