In October 2025, a powerful cohort of Black midwives and doulas will journey to Kenya and Tanzania to participate in an international midwifery exchange rooted in solidarity, skill-sharing, and ancestral connection.

We are going to serve—and to learn.

According to our partner at Wajamama, "Women in sub-Saharan Africa have a 50x higher chance of dying during birth than their counterparts in high-income countries".

This exchange is about changing that narrative—together.

🌍 Why This Matters:

This is not just a trip. It’s a healing journey. It’s an offering.

We’re bringing:

Critical supplies for under-resourced maternity centers

Collaborative support during births and postpartum care

Workshops and training sessions for midwives and families alike

And we’re returning with:

New tools to advance Birth Justice across the African diaspora

Deepened wisdom

A stronger global birth worker community

Travel and accommodations for the full team

Local transportation, interpreters, and community stipends

Support for on-the-ground programming

Each traveler will also have an individual fundraising page, where donations go directly to their trip costs. Contributions made here on the main page will support the overall mission and ensure the trip’s success for the entire group.
