Story

The Ruth Stone House is committed to offering opportunities to poets who wish to deepen and further their craft, through our dynamic and innovative programming. Whether that's spending a week at one of our yearly in-person retreats in Vermont, taking a two-day online workshop, receiving manuscript help from one of our visiting faculty, or spending a weekend focusing on a letterpress project at the Ruth Stone House, we are committed to providing as much financial support as possible to writers as possible. To do this we need donors who want to help support writers too! Our nonprofit would love to have you be part of our community and to join us in the mission to make poetry and pedagogy accessible to all. Please consider making a one-time or recurring donation. 100% of these donations will go straight to actual writers, real people who have made the commitment to their craft and be part of something inspiring. If you cannot support financially, you can also help by sharing this with someone who might like to be part of this!

Next Galaxy Poetry Retreat

Next Galaxy is a yearly writing retreat where 15-20 students from all over the country come to spend 5 days workshopping poems, attending lectures and absorbing the beautiful landscape of Vermont. While the RSH is being renovated, we have hosted these at various B&Bs nearby.

Manuscript Consultations

Poets meet with Ruth Stone House faculty or guest writers and faculty to thoroughly discuss their manuscripts, edit poems, and otherwise plan for taking their work forward towards publication as a collection or chapbook. Consults are often done in a series to help support the poet through the editing, organizing and pre-publishing process. Manuscript consultations fees vary with faculty, $200-$450.

Classroom

The Ruth Stone House "Classroom" is a (mostly) virtual learning platform, where students can take classes ranging from one-offs to four-week workshops. We have hosted over 20 classes from a wide range of teachers, on various topics all based around poetry. Our scholarship programs offers partial or full tuition, and price ranges from $100-300 depending on length of class.

Poetry & Consciousness Retreat

This retreat is in its first year and is based around Creative Director, Bianca Stone's Ode & Psyche Podcast (hosted by the Ruth Stone House). Coupled with RSH Letterpress Arts director Candace Jensen's extensive background in yoga and yogic teachings, this seven-day in-person intimate retreat will have 8-10 students and be based around creative discussion, poetry workshop and daily yoga practice. Despite the length of the retreat we have worked to make this an affordable event. Cost will be approximately $1400, including food and board.
