Naima Liggon was taken from us far too soon, leaving behind a void that can never be filled—and a legacy that will never be forgotten. On August 27, 2023, just one day before she was to begin her junior year of high school, Naima’s life was tragically cut short by an act of senseless violence from someone she considered a friend.

Naima was vibrant, compassionate, and deeply self-aware. She had a way of making people feel seen. She spoke her mind without apology, loved her family fiercely, and carried a natural ability to uplift those around her. She believed in honesty, loyalty, self-expression, and in the strength of community. She was more than a victim—she was a light in every space she entered.

That light is what the Naima Liggon Foundation exists to carry forward.

We are currently in the early stages of launching the foundation and are in the process of obtaining 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. During this phase, your contributions help us build the foundation itself—developing programs, supporting community outreach, and launching our first events.

Our mission is rooted in one simple belief: young people deserve to be seen, supported, and believed in. We are focused on creating pathways that meet them where they are—through mentorship, scholarships, conflict resolution and violence-prevention programming, and vocational opportunities in fields like barbering, cosmetology, and technology.

This work is about turning pain into purpose. It’s about making sure Naima’s story doesn’t end with what was lost, but continues through what can be built.
