Update-thanks to a very generous donor we are ready to begin! We will start trapping this weekend and have a goal of catching and spaying/neutering 10-15 cats each week.

Dayton Elementary school and the surrounding neighborhood has a HUGE feral cat problem. Feral Cat Foundation (FCF) has pulled around 30 cats and kittens from the school in the last couple years but that is only a drop in the bucket! There are an estimated 200 unfixed cats in and around the school.

FCF wants to help but we do not have the funds for such a big project. It will cost us an average of $150 to spay/neuter, vaccinate and flea treat each cat. This is the most basic of care. There are bound to be sick and injured cats in a colony this large. These animals will need more intensive vet care. As soon as we begin getting donations, we will start booking spay/neuter appointments and begin the trapping process.

FCF uses the nationally recognized TNR (trap-neuter-release) method to reduce cat overpopulation. To learn more about feral cats and TNR, visit our website. FCF does not have a shelter or sanctuary. We cannot magically make all the cats disappear. We will take in kittens and tame adults as we have room in foster care. We will attempt to find barn or yard placements for some of the feral cats where possible. But many of the cats will need to be released back into the neighborhood where they were caught. The important thing is that they will no longer be able to reproduce. And with vaccinations on board and an end to inbreeding, they will be healthier.

Can you help? In addition to monetary donations, we will also need FOSTER homes for tame cats and kittens. We will need families to ADOPT the cats and kittens. And we will need people to provide outdoor homes for the feral cats.
