The world feels especially heavy right now. With the ongoing government shutdown, millions of Americans could lose access to food assistance through SNAP and other similar programs, including families, children, and seniors right here in our community. Many are already feeling the effects, and the need for help continues to grow.

It has not been lost upon us that while we are preparing for South Bay Restaurant Week and celebrating the local restaurants that make our community special, some of our neighbors may be struggling to put food on the table.

That is why Local Anchor, in partnership with South Bay Volunteers, South Bay Credit Union, and Community’s Child, is launching a community-wide food drive to help restock South Bay pantries and school programs. Community’s Child currently supports many local food pantries and schools across the region, and the demand for assistance is increasing every day.

By joining forces with South Bay Restaurant Week, we hope to bring our community together through the shared value of food — to enjoy it, to celebrate it, and to make sure everyone has access to it.

We invite local residents, businesses, and organizations to join us. Whether you donate food, volunteer your time, or help spread the word, every act of kindness will help feed a neighbor in need.

All donations are made to the Local Anchor Foundation, DBA South Bay Volunteers, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Every dollar collected for this campaign, minus standard transaction fees, will be donated directly to Community’s Child to support their efforts to feed local families across the South Bay.

Together, we can fill plates, fuel hope, and make sure no one in the South Bay goes hungry.
