We are thrilled to share that Building Blocks in Africa is close to finishing construction on a girls’ secondary school in rural Kenya. This will be the first high school for girls in the Maasai village of Olooli—a place where they can learn, grow, and dream big. With your help, we can open the doors to the first class of students in January 2026.

Where is the school located?

The school is in Olooli, a small, rural Maasai village in Kenya.

Has the school been built from the ground up?

Yes! This has been the passion project of our local director, Noel Indasi, who worked hand-in-hand with Maasai leaders and the local government. The majority of the core buildings—including classrooms, bathrooms, a kitchen, and a science lab—are already in place.

How big will the school be, and what grades will it serve?

We have 4 classrooms and will operate as a high school (grades 9–12). We’ll start small by enrolling one class (grade 9) in January and will add a new class each year, allowing steady, sustainable growth.

How many teachers will there be?

We anticipate having up to 9 teachers once the school is fully established.

Is the school free, or will there be tuition?

There will be subsidized tuition to help cover teachers’ salaries, and we’ll offer scholarships for the most vulnerable girls, including those rescued from child marriage.

Will this be a boarding school or a day school?

The school will start as a day school. In the future, we plan to add dormitories so girls from farther villages can attend.

How will the school ensure self-sufficiency?

Through sustainability projects that provide food and income. We already have two thriving greenhouses, a mushroom farm, and beekeeping. Plans are underway to add poultry and dairy farming to ensure long-term independence.

How much money is needed to open the school and enroll the first class?

We need $60,000 to open in January. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us finish construction, furnish classrooms, and prepare the school to welcome its first class of girls!
