For thirty years, people in Seattle and Ballard who were struggling with making ends meet or lack of food or homelessness had a place to get a hot meal. That place has been Edible Hope, located near the Ballard Library.

Now Edible Hope is facing its own issue with homelessness.

St. Lukes of Ballard has been housing Edible Hope for all these years and they are adding affordable housing to their property, which means they need to find a new home for their Edible Hope program.

Enter St. Pauls United Church of Christ. We have a kitchen and dining room that is only used in the afternoons by a Living in Sobriety group. Edible Hope feels St. Pauls is the perfect place for them to continue their mission of feeding the hungry.

There is just one problem: St. Pauls kitchen needs cabinetry, electrical, plumbing and equipment changes to facilitate the cooking of 60 – 80 hot meals every day! To pull off this kitchen upgrade, St. Pauls needs to raise more money than we have ever done in a short amount of time!

Please help St. Pauls keep Edible Hope in Ballard. Help those in your community who need a helping hand. Support this campaign and know that you will be making a difference in hundreds of peoples lives. Without your support, Edible Hope cannot continue in Ballard.

Why give to St. Pauls?

St. Pauls UCC has been dedicated to supporting safe space, shelter, and recovery in Ballard for more than four decades. We provide space for 12 Step meetings at all different times of the day and on every day of the week. Currently we house more than 25 meetings each week, which translates to hundreds of people who come together at St Pauls to give and seek help in all kinds of addiction recovery. Partnering with St. Lukes and Edible Hope is a natural step in following the call to love ALL neighbors.

St. Paul’s United Church of Christ seeks to follow the example of Jesus’ radical love, reaching out in openness and affirmation to seekers, believers and doubters: to all who come looking for God and community. St. Paul’s is not called to change people; St. Paul's is called to offer a space where growth can take place.

Edible Hope: For over three decades, Edible Hope has been welcoming and serving anyone who needs a meal. Each weekday morning, a team of volunteers opens our doors, prepares coffee and food (all of which has been donated), and offers a meal, a cup of coffee, and a warm place to enjoy them to everyone who shows up. On average, serving over 100 breakfast meals each day Monday through Friday. That’s about 2,000 meals a month. We warmly welcome volunteers from Ballard and beyond who would like to contribute to this service to our homeless neighbors.
