Empowerment Through Advocacy: Supporting Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Students
Join us for an empowering and educational workshop led by Asher McMaher, Executive Director of Trans Up Front IL, dedicated to learning how to be a strong advocate for transgender and gender non-conforming (TGNC) students. Whether you're an educator, student, parent, or ally, this event will equip you with the tools to stand up and speak out with confidence and compassion.
Through interactive sessions and expert guidance, you’ll explore:
*Current legal protections for Illinois schools and how they impact TGNC youth in schools and beyond
*Strategies to build inclusive communities that uplift and support TGNC individuals
*Real-world advocacy skills and active allyship to challenge injustice and promote equity in your circles.
*Best practices in public speaking to effectively share your message and inspire change
Let’s work together to create safer, more affirming spaces where every student is seen, heard, and respected. No experience needed, just a commitment to learning and supporting our TGNC communities.
This training will be virtual through zoom. A link will be provided to you with your reminder email closer to the training for safety reasons.
