Baltimore is home to a wealth of stories—stories that challenge, inspire, and connect us. Now more than ever storytelling is essential.

Subject Tew Change provides 7 Baltimore artists the opportunity to lead to their own episode, telling a story of their choosing. The film series is sewn together with footage from the Mixing Bowl, the first time the group came together. The Mixing Bowl is an Arts Collective event series where creatives connect over food and conversation, exploring themes of art, community, and public health.

The respective artist episodes span genres, mediums, and formats, offering a vivid portrait of creativity’s power to inspire transformation. Through these stories Subject Tew Change spotlights Baltimore and how voices and experiences nurture networks.

Meet the seven visionary artists shaping this series:

Dr. Joyce J. Scott, MacArthur Fellow and pioneering artist, uses beauty, humor, and horror to challenge societal injustices.
James Phillips, a professor and artist weaving African traditions and mythology into vibrant, politically charged works.
Adam Stab, a self-taught graffiti artist, explores the blurred lines between creativity and addiction.
Alexandria "Brinae Ali" Bradley, an interdisciplinary artist connecting tap dance, jazz, and storytelling to the human spirit.
Michael Haskins Jr., a visionary whose work reflects themes of transition, change, and opportunity.
Kay L.A., a dynamic artist redefining the mold for women in hip-hop with her unique blend of rap, soul, and spoken word.
Marquis Carrington, a multidisciplinary artist using music, poetry, and graphic design to honor community and freedom.

This campaign will fund the production of our 30-minute pilot episode featuring Dr. Joyce J. Scott.

Here’s how your support will be used:

Production Costs (35%): $7,000 for equipment rentals, location fees, and on-set crew to craft a high-quality episode.
Post-Production (30%): $6,000 for editing, sound design, and color grading to deliver a polished and professional final cut.
Artist Stipends (25%): $5,000 to fairly compensate Dr. Joyce J. Scott and the creative team for their time, creativity, and contributions.
Marketing and Outreach (10%): $2,000 for promotional efforts, including screenings, social media, and community events to amplify the pilot’s reach.

Your early support ensures production begins in 2026, with the pilot premiering by 2027! Your donations will help bring this dream to fruition!
