Radically Fit has been a home for trans, Black and Brown, queer, fat, disabled people and their allies to move joyfully and safely for nearly a decade. But Radically Fit is more than a gym: it’s a community hub and activist space where we actively resist fascism and oppression, and offer programming, resources, and access to those most often excluded from traditional wellness spaces. We are one of the few spaces in the country that continues to require masking when we gather indoors, prioritizing the safety of our immunocompromised, disabled, and high-risk community members.

Like many movement spaces, Radically Fit experiences a predictable post-holiday cash-flow gap each year. In most years, we plan carefully for this seasonal slowdown. This year, however, that gap has been significantly deepened by the current political and economic landscape—particularly the ongoing attacks on trans and gender-nonconforming people and the material impact this has had on our community’s financial stability, mental health, and capacity to give.

At the same time, our operating costs remain high: rising Bay Area rent, paying staff above-average wages, maintaining fully stocked equipment for community use, and offering our space free of charge to local organizations and organizing groups. Over 60% of our members attend on a sliding scale, with some paying $0 and many paying between $20–$60 per month—an intentional commitment to access, not a reflection of demand or care for the work.

This sustaining emergency fundraiser is designed to help us stabilize through the next 6 months. It creates the breathing room needed to thoughtfully restructure, pursue aligned partnerships and funding, and determine what long-term sustainability can realistically look like for a space doing this kind of work in the current climate. This is not about maintaining the status quo at all costs—it is about giving this work a real chance to continue, evolve, and survive by helping close our immediate cash flow gap while we grow other revenue streams.

For years, I’ve carried the financial, emotional, and mental weight of keeping Radically Fit open. After my mom passed away, I committed to continuing this mission without sacrificing my health or safety. As a trans founder and a person of color, navigating traditional financial systems is not safe or sustainable for me; I cannot rely on high-interest loans or personal debt to carry this space forward. Your support allows Radically Fit to move through this moment with care, integrity, and the possibility of a sustainable future—without putting this work, or me, at personal risk.
