1972: ATX Women's Sports Pub is on a mission to empower women in Austin, Texas, by providing a dedicated space where female athletes and ALL women’s sports fans can unite. Despite the growing interest, there are zero venues that prioritize and celebrate women’s sports, leaving them with limited recognition and support. That's where we come in.

Austin's vibrant and diverse community presents the perfect opportunity for a women's sports pub, and our establishment will serve as a main stage to address the lack of representation in the industry. At 1972, founders Debra Hallum and Marlene du Plessis envision a welcoming environment where all fans can say cheers to women’s accomplishments over a great meal. We have exciting partnerships in the works and can’t wait to bring you unforgettable experiences with your favorite women’s sports teams and players!

This is where you come in. To turn this vision into reality, we need the help of our amazing community. Your contributions will go towards overhead costs such as securing a location in Central Austin, renovations, furniture, living wages, licenses, and launching. Additionally, your donations will cover renderings of female athletes throughout history that will be displayed around the restaurant, ensuring no one leaves 1972 uneducated about women in sports! Eventually, a portion of our profits will be used to support local women’s organizations and help more girls play sports.
