Cristosal – Forced Out, Standing Firm

After 25 years of standing with victims of repression in El Salvador, Cristosal has been forced to close its offices amid escalating threats, criminalization of defenders, and the authoritarian Foreign Agents Law. The Bukele regime’s dismantling of democracy has left no guarantees of legal defense, only surveillance, intimidation, and fear.

But this is not the end of our mission. We remain fully committed, reorganizing from our offices in Guatemala and Honduras to protect our team, defend civic space, and ensure that victims’ voices are heard.
