Story

We’re Back! For over 50 years, our Pancake Breakfast has not only been our most important fundraiser, it also is a long-standing local community event and annual gathering of the Troop 719 family, friends and supporters in the Gardena/Torrance community. Last year we introduced our community to our sister troop, Troop 310G! We are looking forward to seeing all of our alumni, friends and community supporters again at Troop 719 & 310G's 2023 Pancake Breakfast!

This year, we’re excited to bring back our traditional dine-in Pancake Breakfast at the Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute! You will be able to join us to enjoy your pre-ordered breakfast plates prepared by members of Troop 719 & 310G. For convenience, we will also provide an option for take-out or pick up where our Scouts will assist you and have your breakfasts ready to go

Thank you to all of our troop family and friends who supported us in 2022 at our Drive Through Pancake Breakfast! With your support, we were able to successfully return to in person activities and our traditional Scouting program that included weekend backpacking trips in the Los Padres National Forest , Angeles National Forest and San Gorgonio Wilderness, family camp at Death Valley, community service projects, Summer camp at Camp Emerald Bay culminating in an epic 10 day 65+ mile Long Term Trek from Sequoia National Park over Mount Whitney; along with a shorter multi day trek in the Mammoth Lakes area for our younger scouts. In the fall we continued our traditional Rock Climbing weekend at Joshua Tree National Park and conducted a new collaborative mini-IFD event with Troop 578 and 310G at Cabrillo Youth Center. Last year, Troop 719 also continued its focus on the development of our scouts as leaders and rank advancement. We are proud that eight of our scouts advanced to the rank of Eagle, with several more now approaching that summit. Our Scouts also continued to support their community through assisting with food drives, toy drives, Halloween candy distribution, helping local families during Thanksgiving and other community events. We were happy to continue our troop’s annual tradition of honoring the memory of service members on Memorial Day at Green Hills Memorial Park and VFW Post 1961. We also are proud to help with the development and growth of our sister scouting unit, Troop 310G as they have grow to nearly 20 scouts and started build their skills and experience in the outdoors and on the trail. Troop 719 & 310G stayed strong and thrived through your help and support.

2023 will be the year our two Troops return to the island of Maui in late July where we will camp, hike, meet a local troop, participate in a local Obon festival and provide community service to the local community. Our activities this year will be focused on preparing and equipping our Scouts and parents for this unique "one every five years" trek experience.

We are excited for the opportunity to finally serve and reconnect with our alumni, friends and supporting community as we sit together and once again enjoy each other’s company.

We’re looking forward to seeing you again! Please support Troop 719 & 310G as we build upon our high adventure scouting activities! Your action during our fundraiser to purchase a Pancake Breakfast to dine-in or take out (donation $10 per plate) and/or make a general or sponsorship (click here for category descriptions) donation to the Troop will go a long way toward helping our Scouts continue our high adventure and other Scouting activities. Thank you for your continued support of the Scouts, families and community that is Troop 719 and 310G!
