Raising $10K will allow us to support the growing network of artist activists that have been part of NY4CA’s Artist Advocates in Residence program! This flagship program provides a monthly stipend to support artists engaged in advocacy and justice work within their communities. The popular and groundbreaking program has supported artists working in areas as wide ranging as arts worker wages, Black artists maternal mental health, disability arts justice, challenging harmful stereotypes in cultural work, and much more. We are now expanding the program with regular gatherings and engagements to strengthen the network of amazing artivists who have come through the residency. New Yorkers for Culture & Arts (NY4CA) serves a coalition of artists, culture workers, and a range of arts organizations from small-budget entities to large-scale cultural institutions. We work together to strengthen public policy and increase equitable and sustained support for culture.
