ROC ERA CORP's Story
-
In the middle of a pandemic, our Founder and Executive Director Aurianna Angelique envisioned an organization that could mobilize resources and support quickly for marginalized communities in South LA. She put her pen to paper and manifested an organization that would offer arts, fitness, and mentorship services. From the trunk of her car, to mobilizing cleaning crews and gardeners in some of the toughest housing projects in Watts, our Founder fervently pursued equity and opportunity for every child she came in contact. That mission continues today.
.
In the past year, ROC ERA has exploded! Our Founder has effectively engaged at-risk youth, empowering them to envision worlds beyond their own. That effort has been amplified by the contributions of our Co-Founder and Vice President, Jessika Jones. Together, they have crossed lines of affiliation, merged at-risk youth from all areas of Watts, and created relationships centered on restoration that resonate throughout the community.
.
Put simply, our mission is to enrich, empower, and invest in at-risk youth in vulnerable communities through arts, fitness, and mentorship. We primarily offer services and resources to children of color who live in marginalized communities. We believe equity and opportunity should be available to every child -- REGARDLESS OF COLOR (ROC).
.
To date, we have impacted over 250 children in our short existence. We have a fitness team, a girls after school program, executed multiple live productions, created short films, facilitated over 50 field trips, and distributed over $50k in resources through our partners The Change Reaction.
.
Now, we need your help. To produce the programs on schedule for 2023, we need to raise a minimum of $50k before 12/31. Why $50k? Explore the breakdown below. Our partners, The Change Reaction, have made it easier than ever to give, and to encourage our network to invest in our mission, they are matching every dollar (up to $15k)! HOW AMAZING IS THAT!? If we double our goal of $15k, The Change Reaction will increase their match by 25%. Here's where you step in.
.
Do you believe in our mission? Have you seen the proof of impact and community we've shared? Sow a seed. No amount is too little. $10, $20, $50, $100 -- whatever is on your heart to give, please do! We need you.
.
If you aren't in a position to give, we certainly understand. What you cannot contribute in dollars, please know you can contribute in support. A share, a comment, a like -- it all goes such a long way. Forward this link to your friends and family, they may be looking for a place to give. Share our Instagram with your professional network, together you can mobilize, contribute, and witness your impact in real time. We can promise you that. Tangible, measurable impact as a result of your investment.
.
Will you help us race to $50k?
.
We cannot overstate our need. We are humbly asking for our village to help us sustain our mission. At the start of the year we have 3 cohorts of after school programs on schedule (2 girls, 1 boys), a spring production, and spring field trips. WE CAN NOT ACCOMPLISH THIS SCHEDULE IF WE DO NOT ACHIEVE OUR GOAL. Please, anything helps! Our village, our youth...deserve your support.
.
Why $50k? $50k will help us realize our 1st quarter schedule below.
- GirlsROC Pilot Cohort - 1st Quarter
- GirlsROC 2nd Cohort - 1st Quarter
- ROCRiderz | Boys Bike Club - 1st Quarter
- Spring Production | Live Play - 1st Quarter
