Our Story: Bridging Borders and Building Momentum

The Journey So Far

When we made this film, we had no idea it would reach over 30 countries. But it did. Today, The Girl Who Wore Freedom is distributed through Virgil Films on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Vudu, YouTube, Google Play, and Canal+ in France. Swank Motion Pictures has opened doors to cruise lines, schools, parks, and city halls in both the USA and France. The film has been in residence at the National Infantry Museum at Fort Benning for four years. We had multi-year runs on Delta, Air France, and United.

In classrooms in Alsace-Lorraine, a French teacher is using the film to teach her students about 80 years of remembrance. On a Delta flight, a man discovered he was a WWII orphan and learned that strangers in France had been tending his father's grave for decades. These stories are still happening because of this film.

Why This Moment Matters

The momentum is real, and the moment feels urgent. Political winds are shifting, and we're hearing a consistent message: this film is needed now more than ever. We aren't just distributing a movie; we're providing a bridge in a divided time. The feedback we receive daily confirms that this message of gratitude, community, and unity is exactly what the current conversation needs.

But the Film Is at Risk

Here's the problem: when we originally licensed the archival footage and music for the film, some of those rights were limited. Some only covered domestic distribution. Some are about to expire. We didn't anticipate that the film would go international. But it did, and now our legal infrastructure needs to catch up.

If we don't re-secure these rights by summer of 2026, future distribution of the film is at risk.

On top of that, the hard drive containing all the original master footage for the film is failing. If it dies before we can transfer everything, we lose the master files. This can't wait.

Where Your Support Goes

The History ($11.5k–$20.5k): This is the bulk of our mission. Your gift secures the worldwide rights to rare archival footage—literally "unlocking" the film so it can be seen by the world.
The Shield ($1.9k–$4k): Essential legal protections. This covers the complex negotiations and contracts required to ensure this film stays protected and legally sound for years to come.
The Vault ($2,500): Immediate preservation. We are currently replacing aging hard drives to migrate and save the master footage from hardware failure.
The Foundation ($455): Covers the necessary administrative filings and "red tape" that keep this project official and compliant.
