Unhoused Advocacy is about breaking the barriers down that keep our neighbors from accessing the resources that the rest of us take for granted. We support our unhoused and housing insecure neighbors with accessing resources for being on the streets and transitioning to secure housing. This has included distributing tents and sleeping bags, homemade meals, hygiene and pandemic supplies; funding temporary shelter and short-term housing; working with other groups supporting our unhoused neighbors across the DMV; and addressing other priorities of our communities. This year we also plan to learn together about mutual aid and other solidarity movements, share skills as a community, and encourage rest and hanging out, in addition to vital resource distribution that we have done for over a year.
