Please join us for the culminating showcase of our Creators Conservatory on Tuesday, August 4 at the Scherr Forum.

Students will bring to life their original musical adaptations of The Day the Crayons Quit (from the best-selling children's book series), alongside musical theatre song cuts they've been honing all program long. The high school students of our Conservatory program work for two and a half weeks to create original theatre works to perform and produce at the Bank of America Performing Arts Center under the guidance of award-winning writers, directors, performers, and designers, including The Day the Crayons Quit author Drew Daywalt!

The conservatory focuses on developing multi-hyphenate pre-professional artists of all creative disciplines through creating original theatre works while learning from industry professionals from a variety of backgrounds.

TOArts’ core programs are:

TOArts Presents: offers a steady stream of culturally diverse, world-class entertainment in the crown jewel of Ventura County. From headline concerts to National Geographic speakers, comedians to folk music, there’s a TOArts Presents show for everyone.
Kids and the Arts: support arts exposure inside and outside of schools, and instills a connection to theatre in local youth by providing free tickets and transportation for students to enjoy live performances at BAPAC. Last school year, we brought over 6,800 students into the theatre to enjoy performances completely for free!
Dr. Raymond M. Olson Performing Grants: supports the dreams of local artists by subsidizing the cost of renting the theatre for local nonprofit performing arts groups.
AccessArts: supporting local school districts to provide equal access to high-quality sequential arts education to elementary schools.
Workforce Development: the Youth Arts Leadership Academy (YALA) and Creators Conservatory are programs aimed at developing well-rounded students and multi-hyphenate artists by providing basic life skills training and exploring various disciplines in the arts alongside top industry professionals. The Artist Incubator offers one-year of professional development for artists by connecting them with professional advisors, other artists and creatives to launch, solidify, or re-define their careers in the arts, with a focus on creative generation, financial sustainability, and entrepreneurial growth.
