Damaged Vehicle Halts Critical Humanitarian Missions: Community Asked to Help Acquire Replacement

At the Combat Recovery Foundation (CRF), we hold a steadfast belief in the value of every life, a conviction that drives our commitment to defending those who are most vulnerable. Through our Brothers Without Borders program, we have partnered with Invictus Global Response (IGR), an organization dedicated to mine and unexploded ordnance removal operations, as well as training local authorities and the public on essential safety measures around explosive ordnance. Their work directly prevents civilian casualties and provides the knowledge necessary for communities to navigate the dangers of conflict zones.

In the fall of 2024, IGR’s mission faced a devastating setback. Their primary vehicle, essential for mine-clearing and humanitarian operations, was severely damaged during a missile strike on Kharkiv. Despite their team’s relentless efforts to keep it operational, the region’s unforgiving terrain has rendered it unusable. Without replacement, their ability to remove life-threatening explosives, conduct critical safety training, and evacuate their own personnel in emergencies is severely limited.

Michael “Monty” Montoya, Founder Invictus Global Response who is currently on the ground in Ukraine, emphasized the critical need for a new vehicle: "This truck is more than transportation, it's a lifeline. Without it, our mission is severely compromised, and in a crisis, it is our only way out. Supporting this fundraiser directly saves lives on the ground."

The men and women of Invictus Global Response are voluntarily putting themselves in harm’s way for the safety of strangers. If we, as a nation, truly aspire to be the stewards of peace and harmony that we claim to be, we must uplift heroes like Monty and ensure they have the resources necessary to continue their mission.

Carson Clover, a retired Master Sergeant from the United States Marine Corps and board member at CRF, believes the pursuit of humanitarian goals is paramount: “I wholeheartedly believe in the mission of humanitarianism, particularly overseas where our unique position allows us to bring extraordinary positive change to regions facing horrific conditions. Supporting a mission like this, which prioritizes not just after-event recovery but interventions to prevent tragedy in the first place, is in keeping with the highest calling of morality that I can imagine.”
