Join us for an inspiring evening with author and Medal of Honor recipient Kyle Carpenter!

Hosted by the nonprofit Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs, this event will celebrate the organization's 15th anniversary and unite Pittsburgh to provide service dogs at no cost to veterans, first responders, and others with permanent disabilities.

MEET OUR GUEST SPEAKERS

Kyle Carpenter, Author & Medal of Honor Recipient:

Kyle received the Medal of Honor for using his body to shield a fellow Marine from a grenade. He was hospitalized for almost three years while recovering from his injuries. Kyle will speak on overcoming adversity and living boldly and purposefully.

Jack Oehm, FDNY Battalion Commander (Ret.) and 9/11 First Responder:

Jack personally lost over 20 of his Battalion colleagues on 9/11. His inspiring talk will remind us of the sacrifices made by first responders and the resilience of the human spirit.

VIP ticket holders and VIP table sponsors will have exclusive access to meet the guest speakers during the Pre-Event VIP Reception from 6 pm to 7 pm.

In addition to the inspiring speakers, all event attendees will enjoy a delicious meal, a silent auction, and a unique program that recognizes local benefactors. Attendees will also see the impact of their support by meeting local Pittsburgh Guardian Angels’ service dog recipients.

An Evening of Inspiring Tales and Tails, will take place on May 17, 2025, at The Event Center, Rivers Casino.

ABOUT GUARDIAN ANGELS MEDICAL SERVICE DOGS

We empower veterans, first responders, and individuals with disabilities by providing highly trained service dogs at no cost to help them regain independence and improve their quality of life. Our recipients maintain a ZERO suicide rate and experience up to a 59% decrease in major symptoms within one year of being paired with their service dog.

We provide lifelong support, including free mental health services and funds for veterinary expenses, to ensure our recipients and their service dogs receive the highest standard of ongoing care.
With our new Southwestern Pennsylvania campus under construction, we are committed to donating even more dogs to benefit people in Pittsburgh and beyond.
