Confessions, a remake of HYPE's 2014 stage play production, Secrets, fuses spoken word, dance, step, and theater to mirror the impact of adverse childhood experiences on Detroit teens and young adults. Through the explicit confessions of teens, we will journey through these experiences and the inequities that drive them.

We call upon the power of art to amplify the voices of a community’s collective pain, shame, laughter, hope and love. As in the Harlem Renaissance and the Black Arts Movements, our community theatrical production calls out the injustices of oppressive systems and catalyzes communal healing.

Support the debut performance of upcoming actors, filmmakers, directors, sound and set designers, marketing experts, poets and social architects who dare to disrupt the forces which drive trauma in their communities.
