As you rush to finalize your goals and celebrate the calendar turning to January 1st, families across Vietnam are beginning their countdown to the Lunar New Year on February 17th.

Although the dates are different, the heart of the season is the same. It is a time for wrapping up the old year, cleaning the slate, and preparing to welcome luck and prosperity into the home.

When practical support meets cultural joy

For the families HSCV serves, the Lunar New Year is the most significant week of the year, but the weeks leading up to it can be expensive.

The beginning of the year brings a convergence of needs: the cultural pressure to provide traditional Tết treats, the need to replace worn-out daily essentials, and the significant financial weight of Lucky Money (“Lì xì”).

As you finalize your goals for the upcoming year, you can help a family in Vietnam start theirs with dignity and the right tools.

We are raising funds now to ensure we can purchase, pack, and deliver Tết Gift Boxes before the Lunar New Year arrives. Your year-end gift before January 29th ensures that when February 17th comes, families are prepared for the year.

These Tết Gift Boxes are carefully curated toolkits that serve three powerful purposes:

Financial relief: By providing daily essentials, you save parents from having to spend their hard-earned income on these unavoidable household costs.
Cultural belonging: You ensure every family has traditional cookies and jams that are central to the Tết celebration.
Restoring dignity: By covering these tangible goods or donating to our specific "Lucky Money" fund, you free up the family's cash, allowing them to fulfill their cultural expectations with pride.

We have designed three specific boxes to support families with children at different stages of their growth, plus a dedicated Lucky Money fund.

$20 - The Seedling Box includes: scarf, socks, cookies/jam or Tết treats, toothpaste, toothbrush, nutrition item (e.g., milk), STEM learning set. This set is perfect for families with younger children.
$25 - The Sprouting Box includes: scarf, socks, cookies/jam or Tết treats, toothpaste, toothbrush, alarm clock, notebook, reusable water bottle. This set is perfect for families with teenagers who are learning to manage their own daily routines.
$30 - The Sapling Box includes: scarf, socks, cookies/jam or Tết treats, notebook and scientific calculator: This box is perfect for families with older children who are taking high school-level math or preparing for university entrance exams.
Or donate any amount of money of your choice to support the sacred tradition of lucky money (“Lì xì”). This fund provides parents with the dignity of giving traditional blessings of luck and peace to their children and elders.

How will I know my gift made a difference?

We will share impact reports and photos after we deliver the boxes to the families.

When will the boxes be delivered?

We collect donations in December and January to purchase supplies in bulk. To ensure our team has time to pack and deliver every box, the deadline for contributions is January 29th. Our team and local partners will hand-deliver the boxes to families at the end of January to ensure everything is ready for the holiday.

Why are items like calculators included?

We want our holiday gifts to have a lasting impact. While the sweets are for the celebration, items like scientific calculators and STEM sets are critical for a student's education but can be expensive for families to purchase on their own.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes. HSCV is a US registered 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization. You will receive an automated tax receipt immediately via GiveButter or directly from our team within 1-2 working days.
