SAVING LIVES, BOTH HORSE AND HUMAN ALIKE.

HNH has officially been a 501(c)(3) since 2018, but it started with one 19 year old girl and a feral, emaciated filly in 2016. After 10 years of rescue, tears, joys and sorrows, it feels like the perfect time to take chances and celebrate!

Over the last decade, we have helped 16 animals experiencing abandonment, abuse, neglect, or the threat of slaughter find rest and refuge. 10 of those farm animals are living out their days with us now. Through the heartbreak of their stories and the triumph of their recoveries, we've discovered us humans aren’t the only ones healing, the herd heals humans, too.

In 2024, we began developing a curriculum to help raise the next generation with grit, grace, empathy, and confidence, all under the watchful eye of patient, kind horses that have been rehabilitated and are in our care. As we look to the future, we're working hard to prepare our sanctuary to welcome more horses and heal more hearts.

Herd Heroes like you are making that possible. Since the beginning, HNH has been grassroots. We take so much pride in the fact that this sanctuary exists because of our community of individuals and families. For the first time in our existence, we are confident in taking big leaps into the future because of all the love and support we and the herd have received.

Our sanctuary is raising $45,000 to set the herd up on this new property and set them up for the future.

We have ordered 3 portable shelters that can home up to 8 large horses, 3 minis, and 5 mini goats or small farm critters. The full cost includes the total cost for the shelters, footing, fencing and winter hay.

The accumulative effort will be celebrated November 7, 2026 at our first large fundraiser for the community, a fair and hoedown in Salt Lake. When our goal, it will allow us to give the horses shelter, space to move, and stable footing, bringing more horses and humans together.

Since we've always been grassroots, we don't have major donors to "gala” with, so we're throwing a fanfare filled hoedown instead. This sanctuary has always been built by community and for community, so we want to celebrate our past and our future the same way.

The evening will include fair games, food, drinks, live music, and a silent auction. We'll spend time reflecting on everything we've accomplished, sharing our vision for what's ahead, and inviting others to partner with us as we continue this work. Most importantly, we'll take the time to thank Herd Heroes like you for believing not only in us, but in the herd we care for and the humans whose lives they continue to change.

3 major bench marks for funding:

September 1 - $10,000 for fencing, footing, and 1st shelter payment

October 1 - $7,500 for 2nd shelter payment

November 7th - $27,000 paying off the shelters and winter hay/hay until next growing season
