I started The Baby Meetup because postpartum didn’t feel the way I expected it to. I craved community for myself and my baby, and I believed the kind of community I needed should exist where I already live. So The Baby Meetup was born.

🌱 What It Is

The Baby Meetup is a free weekly community playdate held in a gated community garden in the beautiful borough of the Bronx, NY. We offer light snacks, activities, music, and most importantly, a space where caregivers and babies can connect and build real relationships. We also collaborate with professionals like therapists, educators, and artists who join us to host workshops and support families.

💛 Impact

All of this has been built with no major funding. We’ve solely relied on community support, along with one $500 grant (shout out Karen Washington and The Black Farmer Fund!). Being a caregiver is often a thankless and invisible role. But now, parents who once felt alone know where they can find consistent connection. It’s not uncommon for a friendship origin story to start at The Baby Meetup, and honestly, that’s what this is all about. Over 2,000 people have walked through those garden gates, with families traveling from across NYC and beyond to be part of it.
