Attorney Charlye Ola Farris is a Wichita County legend. Among her trailblazing accomplishments, she was the first African-American woman licensed to practice law in Texas and the first African-American attorney, male or female, in Wichita County.

The Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture is paying tribute to her life and legacy with the commissioning of a life-sized bronze sculpture to be placed on the lawn of the Wichita County Courthouse.

The sculpture of Ms. Farris will acknowledge the contributions of a contemporary heroine whose vision and wisdom are a source of tremendous pride for North Texas. This $250,000 project has the full support of Wichita County Judge Woody Gossom and Wichita County Commissioners.

By contributing today you will help our community ensure that future generations understand the contributions of African American leaders of Wichita County.
