Join us in saving children’s brains and bodies by bringing together medical specialists from the US, Europe and the Middle East in the fields of genetics, metabolism and neurology for a medical conference in Northern Iraq (Kurdistan) in 2024!

In 2020, The Restoration Act (TRA) team was confronted with the reality of a metabolic disorder called Phenylketonuria, referred to as PKU, and the lack of awareness and available treatment in the area due to decades of war including ISIS/Daesh.

PKU is a genetic disorder where the lack of a critical enzyme causes the amino acid phenylalanine to build up in the brain.

When PKU is undiagnosed and/or untreated, rapid decline in health can be expected resulting in permanent intellectual and physical disabilities. This decline can begin shortly after birth for a child with PKU.

With an early diagnosis, and immediate and proper long term treatment, a child with PKU can grow up free of physical and mental disabilities!

Collaborating with Metabolic Specialists from the United States, we have been actively caring for children with PKU. We are encouraged by the desire from health care professionals in Iraq to learn more about treating children with PKU and other metabolic disorders.

Please join us in hosting this catalytic medical conference in January 2024 by contributing any amount towards the $45,000 needed. Expenses include travel, food and lodging for a week for the incoming medical specialists and team, conference venue, meals and associated costs, master classes, videographer, etc.

*The medical conference was originally scheduled for January 2024; however, due to the Middle East situation with Israel/Hamas the conference is being postponed until later in the year.
