This October, Shade Out DM Foundation is honored to sponsor the "Their Light Lives On" Remembrance Tent at the Walk to Defeat ALS in San Diego, California.

For us, this is deeply personal.

One of our beloved Shade Out DM supporters knew the heartbreak of Degenerative Myelopathy firsthand. She walked the DM journey beside her beloved pup, Hallie, becoming part of a community brought together by a devastating disease.

Then she faced a progressive neurological disease of her own: ALS.

She passed away at the end of 2025.

In her memory, and in honor of Michele & her baby Hallie, Shade Out DM Foundation is bringing our two communities together in a very special way.

Different species. Similar journeys.

Canine Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) share important biological and clinical similarities. Both are progressive neurodegenerative diseases that gradually take away mobility, leaving families and caregivers who understand all too well what it means to adapt, advocate, love fiercely, and keep moving forward.

On October 3, we will walk together.

And we want our DM Warriors with us.

Through the "Their Light Lives On" Remembrance Tent, Shade Out DM Foundation is bringing our DM community alongside the ALS community in a special space dedicated to remembrance, love, and the lives that continue to inspire every step.

And we want our DM families to be part of it.

We hope to create a beautiful memorial display honoring 50 DM Warriors who have taken the DM journey and left their paw prints forever on the hearts of those who loved them.

With a $50 memorial contribution, your DM Warrior can be remembered with:

🐾 Years or memorial dates, (if you choose)

Your Warrior's tribute will become part of Shade Out DM Foundation's "Their Light Lives On" memorial display inside the Remembrance Tent at the Walk to Defeat ALS.

Together, these photos will tell a story bigger than any one of us: a story of courage, devotion, adaptation, advocacy, and an extraordinary love that doesn't end when the journey does.

Every memorial contribution helps make "Their Light Lives On" possible and gives our DM community a meaningful presence alongside families walking the ALS journey.
