In April of 2023, a group of Tulsa improvisers sat in a midtown living room, plotting to preserve the community we built in years of creating together.

We put together a nonprofit dedicated to accessible comedy - education, performances, workshops. Over the course of three years, Third Space Society exceeded our own expectations. A few workshops and hangs turned into repeat festival appearances, a full programming calendar of workshops and jams with community partners, regular productions, and a free three-day comedy festival where all performers were paid.

That small group has grown exponentially, our network encompassing improv, sketch and standup comedy along with event producers, writers and filmmakers. A home base was always a dream; now it's a necessity.

Third Space is negotiating for a suite in the Heights neighborhood of Tulsa - a spot perfect for rehearsals, writers' rooms, workshops and meetings, complete with a theater. With a dedicated Third Space location, this nonprofit would be able to broaden the impact of our work.

Our team would be able to work around busy schedules to plan programming and fundraisers. Supplies and equipment would be more accessible in a centralized location. Rehearsals with new comedians would not require giving out personal addresses. Additionally, with a wider calendar for production, Third Space could offer more opportunities for Tulsans to experience the power of play than ever before.
