The Paths We Weave: A Community Public Art Project

This summer, artists Sydney Schultz and Laura Reeder are transforming the hillside below Thornden Park's water tower into a living public artwork where sculpture, walking paths, ecology, and community come together.

Monumental woven willow sculptures will emerge from the landscape alongside meadow pathways that invite visitors to slow down, explore, gather, and experience the park in new ways.

Created in partnership with the Thornden Park Association and Syracuse Parks, Recreation & Youth Programs, with partial funding support from CNY Arts, the Westcott Area Cultural Coalition and Tomorrow’s Neighborhoods Today- East Side, this project celebrates public space as something we build—and care for—together.

Help us reach our $15,000 fundraising goal in support this public art project in Thornden Park. Every contribution—no matter the size—makes a difference. Your support goes directly toward the artists' work. If we exceed our goal, additional funds will go toward establishing the Thornden Park Public Art Fund, in support of future public art projects in the park.

🌿 Supporter | $50–$499

Supporter-level donors will receive:
