I am hiking to the top of Kilimanjaro this September for Sickle Forward as I have lived the impact that treatments can have on rare diseases, and want to do my part to continue to support those most in need. My path into science and medicine came about due to a member of my family being born with a rare disease. I have been fortunate to experience the transformative power that science, medicine, and community support can have on those most impacted. Now, I am honored to work alongside an incredible team of scientists and operators dedicated to advancing treatments for a rare kidney disease. This hike is more than an adventure; it's an opportunity to contribute near-term impact to a cause that echoes my personal and professional journey, aiming to extend support and hope to those with SCD.
