Who Are We?

The Sisters of Charity of Our Lady, Mother of the Church (SCMC) are a Roman Catholic religious community devoted to living a life of sanctity and service, in imitation of Our Blessed Mother. Inspired by her faith, humility, we strive to serve wherever we are called. Whether educating young hearts and minds, caring for the sick and elderly, offering shelter, or praying daily for the intentions of others, we seek to make Christ known through every act of love.

SCMC Giving Day 2025

On June 4th, we gather in gratitude to honor the legacy of Bishop John Zwijsen and Mother Marie Alma Lafond, whose vision of love, faith, and service continues to inspire us. Since 1832, the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady, Mother of the Church have devoted their lives to nurturing hearts, educating minds, and caring for the most vulnerable among us.

Please join us for a special livestreamed Mass on Saturday June 7th at 10AM as we give thanks to God for the vision and legacy of our Founders —and lift up in prayer generous benefactors like you who make that vision possible. Your gift, in any amount, brings hope: to a child in the classroom, a mother in our Homeless Shelter, an elderly soul in need of care, or a hungry family at our Food Pantry.

Our Mission Statement:

As Sisters of Charity of Our Lady, Mother of the Church we embrace our two-fold mission of sanctity and service. In a spirit of simplicity we aspire to live a life rooted in the Gospel, in imitation of Mary and expressed by prayer, charity, self sacrifice and loving obedience. We devote ourselves to the works of charity, and as true daughters in the heart of the Church, we serve others through the apostolates of education, caring for the sick, the aging and the poor, wherever there is a need.
