Join the Catskill Center and Levi O’Brien of Levi O’Brien Tree School for an engaging walk into the world of trees. Together, we’ll explore the historical importance, cultural meaning, ecology, biology, and horticulture of the trees that shape the Catskill landscape, while learning foundational tree identification skills along the way.

This guided walk invites participants to slow down, observe, and appreciate trees across their many dimensions, from forest ecology and traditional wood use to the stories and relationships rooted within the landscape itself. Whether you’re simply tree-curious or looking to deepen your knowledge, this program offers a unique opportunity to connect with the forests of the Catskills in a whole new way.

About Levi O’Brien:

Levi O’Brien is an arborist/garden consultant, an expert on all things tree and wood related and, above all, an educator. He is on faculty at the New York Botanical Garden, a Graduate student at SUNY ESF studying Forest Pathology, and a green-woodworker. He spends most of his time avidly pursuing knowledge about dendrology, horticulture, ecology, arboriculture, and wood history and use, in order to make it available to the public.
