Taiko is a full-body performance art that blends physicality and musicality, movement and rhythm. Originating in Japan but molded by a globalized world, taiko performances pay homage to ancient rhythms as well as innovate contemporary beats. Join Mountain River Taiko for a brief introduction to taiko and a chance to try your hand at Japanese drumming!

Participants will gain an introduction to taiko, basic skills regarding form and strike, and play a brief song as a group. No experience necessary!

SUNDAY, 9/25 2:30PM - 3:30PM @ Congress Park (268 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866)  - in the event of rain, the workshop will take place in the Sanctuary at Presbyterian New England Congregational Church, 24 Circular St. Saratoga Springs, NY 12866

Mountain River Taiko was founded in 2011 and serves western Massachusetts and surrounding areas.  We strive to increase intercultural awareness by sharing the joy of playing taiko drums,  and to enhance our technical, musical and performing skills in an atmosphere of cooperation, playfulness, joy, and respect.
