Want to try taiko for yourself? Don't miss this rare chance to try out taiko with a world-renowned taiko artist!
As part of our 10th Anniversary Concert, Mountain River Taiko is inviting professional taiko artist Tiffany Tamaribuchi as a special guest in our performance, and to provide an intro-level workshop for the western MA community.
Taiko is a full-body performance art that blends physicality and musicality, movement and rhythm. Originating in Japan but molded by a globalized world, taiko performances pay homage to ancient rhythms as well as innovate contemporary beats. Join us for a brief introduction to taiko and a chance to try your hand at these powerful drums!
Tiffany Tamaribuchi is an internationally acclaimed taiko performer and instructor, and was the first woman to win the All Japan Odaiko Contest. In the traditional taiko realm of Japanese-born and trained male performers, she creates a new powerful voice with her multicultural heritage and feminine perspective.
Participants will be introduced to the foundations of taiko playing. No experience necessary!
