Whittington Solo Risk Manager Professional Scholarship

The Jenny Whittington Solo Risk Manager Professional Scholarship will be available to a solo risk manager from an institutional member of URMIA. The annual scholarship will cover up to $2,000 in expenses incurred for URMIA conferences, such as registration, hotel, travel, and related costs. The scholarship was created in honor of long-time URMIA Executive Director Jenny Whittington as a tribute to her extensive contributions to the organization.

Lisa Zimmaro URMIA Internship Grant

This $7,500 grant is awarded to an URMIA member institution to hire an intern to work within the risk management department/on risk management functions, and is named in memory of our colleague and friend who lost her battle with cancer in 2022. Lisa was AVP Risk Management and Treasury at Temple University, where she was also an adjunct professor in the Fox School of Business. She was an active URMIA member, serving two terms on the URMIA Board of Directors. In 2021, Lisa was recognized as a Distinguished Risk Manager (DRM), the association's highest honor. Above all, Lisa had a real love for teaching and mentoring up-and-coming risk management and insurance students, which is why this grant is named in her honor.
