Lafayette is a community of problem solvers. Here at The Current, we call these often unsung heroes, Wavemakers.

Wavemakers are people who demonstrate selflessness in their work or service, creativity in problem solving, a passion for Lafayette and a vision for its future. They can come from any sector — health, education, business, public service, nonprofits, communities of faith, etc. — and contribute at any scale, big or small.

And we celebrate them with the Undercurrent Awards.

🌊 Who. CBS News Contributor David Begnaud will host our 5th Annual Undercurrent Awards, including a new televised Undercurrent Awards special simulcast on KLFY, KATC and KADN.

🗓️ When. The watch party will be held Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 6:30 to 8 pm. Honorees will be profiled by in a televised special simulcast on KLFY, KATC and KADN that night

🏙️ Where. Acadiana Center for the Arts, 101 W. Vermilion Street, Lafayette, LA 70501

Honorees will be profiled by David Begnaud in a televised special simulcast on KLFY, KATC and KADN and have the opportunity to direct a grant from the Community Foundation of Acadiana to the local charitable cause of their choice.
